I'll be Des

As a contribution to the reduction of incidences of drink driving, the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership is once again organising its 'I'll be Des' campaign this year.

The principle of the scheme is that participating venues offer free or reduced price soft drinks to the 'designated driver' from a group of customers e.g. groups of 3 people or more (this may vary depending on venue). The aim is to encourage groups to nominate a driver and to make driving more 'attractive'.

Participation in the scheme demonstrates commitment to making our local communities safer, reducing road casualties and also dispels the argument that soft drinks can cost as much as alcoholic ones.

If you would like your venue to take part in this scheme please ring the Road Safety Unit on 0300 111 8012 or email Irene Williamson at irene.williamson@staffordshire.gov.uk.

To take part in the I'll be Des campaign as a customer, when you enter a participating campaign venue simply make yourself known to the bar staff by outlining that you are the designated driver in your group and they will explain the soft drinks offers available to you. It couldn't be easier!
