Mobile Phones and Drivers

It's illegal to hold a phone or sat nav while driving or riding a motorcycle. From March 2017 the penalty for using a hand-held phone when driving was increased to six penalty points and a £200 fine. You can also lose your licence if you have passed your driving test in the last two years.

If convicted in court you could be banned from driving or riding and receive a maximum fine of £1,000 (£2,500 if you are driving a lorry or bus).
