About us

The Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) was set up in 2001 as a partnership between public sector organisations in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, with the aim of reducing road casualties and making our roads safer.

Most road safety initiatives in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent are delivered by one of these partner organisations, either as part of their normal service delivery or on behalf of the Partnership.

The main partners are:

The SSRP is chaired by the Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams, and Deputy Staffordshire Commissioner David Evans.

Since the Partnership was set up in 2001 there has been a significant reduction in the number of collisions resulting in injury in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. This will have been influenced by a range of factors, but work undertaken across the Partnership has also played a key role.

The SSRP identifies opportunities to work together and ensure road safety delivery is as efficient and effective as possible. We also have governance measures in place to ensure activity is appropriate and delivered in line with the aims of the whole Partnership.

Any death or injury on our roads is one too many, so the Partnership will continue to strive for further improvements in road safety. A key focus of our activity will be to address the persistent challenges with some of our most vulnerable road users such as young drivers and motorcyclists.
